#SeeMeLive Concert was indeed live with Simi and her band thrilling her fans to beautiful live band music. The Gusto Tv Crew got there late (you know how the thing go in Lagos na) and so we did not get to catch fantastic acts like Chike, Funbi, Jeff Akoh, Maka and Efezino but the few hours we spent with Simi was indeed worth the wait. Right from the day I got to know about the concert, I had high expectations not only because Simi is a great artiste that has crafted her own style of music and has mastered the craft but because it would be the first concert she would headline.
On arriving the venue at Hard Rock Cafe, we could hear Simi’s voice filtering through the audience and the doors to hit us at the entrance trying to convert tickets to pass. After performing a couple of singles off her #Simisola Album; Aimasiko, Complete Me, Gone for Good, Original Baby, One Kain, Falz The Bahd Guy was in the bihdin to join her on stage as they performed Jamb Question, Foreign and Chemistry. Simi exited the stage leaving her fans to the mercy of Falz as he performed Jeje and La Fete.
Simi returned on stage to take the energy up a notch as she performed Smile For Me, Hiphop Hurray and then ushered in the golden boy; Adekunle Gold with “No Forget” and followed that up with “Take Me Back”. Saying their performance was watching love birds sing is an understatement and all I could pray for was for Kunle to propose to her right there but instead Simi went on her knees asking him to take her back and left him on stage to serenade the audience to ‘Call On Me”.
Simi crowned the night with an electrifying performance of “Owambe” and “Joromi” which got the audience dancing and shocked when she said “Thank you, Goodnight, I love you all”.
Two things I appreciated about the concert are that it started as scheduled by 8:00pm and Simi’s understanding and knowledge of music cannot be overemphasized but as a music lover, I expected more from a “Simi’s first concert”.
Would I attend another concert headlined by Simi? HEAVEN YES!!!
